CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Sept. 26, 2018) – Charlotte’s first “Over the Edge” event supporting the NASCAR Hall of Fame Foundation and The NASCAR Foundation kicked off on Tuesday with a VIP media day. International Speedway Corporation CEO and NASCAR Vice Chairperson Lesa France Kennedy and NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee Rusty Wallace were the first two to rappel 10 stories down the Embassy Suites Uptown.
Other VIP rappelers included Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series drivers Bubba Wallace, Ryan Blaney and Matt DiBenedetto; Incoming NASCAR President Steve Phelps, NASCAR Vice President Gary Crotty and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series General Manager Ben Kennedy; NASCAR Hall of Fame Executive Director Winston Kelley; and The NASCAR Foundation Executive Director Nichole Krieger.
On Wednesday, rappelling will continue with participants who have secured a minimum $1,000 that will benefit the NASCAR Hall of Fame Foundation and The NASCAR Foundation. Donations are expected to exceed $175,000 that will be divided between the two foundations to support education and healthcare services for economically challenged children in the Charlotte community.
