June 18, 2013

“Five Kahne” 5K to support Ronald McDonald House and student field trips to the NASCAR Hall of Fame

CHARLOTTE, N.C.  (June 18, 2013) – Registration is now open for the fourth annual Kasey Kahne Foundation “Five Kahne” 5K and Kid’s Dash presented by Great Clips to be held in Uptown Charlotte on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 10 a.m. The start and finish lines as well as the post-race festival will be at the NASCAR Hall of Fame Plaza on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. between Caldwell and Brevard streets.

Runners, fans, families and spectators are invited to join NASCAR driver Kasey Kahne and other industry celebrities for the 5K run/walk, Kid’s Dash and post-race festival at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Proceeds will benefit the Ronald McDonald House, which provides comfortable accommodations for families of seriously ill children from across the Carolinas receiving medical treatment at local children’s hospitals, and Friends of the NASCAR Hall of Fame, which provides grants that fund educational field trips for students in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) courses. “We are thrilled to be able to build on the momentum the last three years has brought to this event,” says Shanon Adams, executive director of the Kasey Kahne Foundation. “We love being able to make each year bigger than the last, which ultimately raises more money for the charities we are passionate to support.”

“With the support of the Kasey Kahne Foundation each year, we’ve been able to provide interactive, hands-on learning opportunities for thousands of students across the state,” says Winston Kelley, executive director of the NASCAR Hall of Fame. “It’s incredibly rewarding to see the lasting impressions the NASCAR Hall of Fame makes on these young minds, who may one day be the future leaders of NASCAR.”

Registration information and fees for the 5K run/walk can be found below and online at www.kaseykahnefoundation.org. The Kid’s Dash will be $5 until Oct. 10, 2013 and $10 on race day at the NASCAR Hall of Fame Plaza.
