Mayetta, New Jersey native Martin Truex Jr. was one of the most accomplished racers of the last two decades, winning the 2017 NASCAR Cup Series championship.

EXHIBIT OPENS MONDAY, MAY 19

In addition to his championship, Truex also posted three runner-up points finishes and won 34 Cup Series races from 2004 to 2024. After earlier stints driving for Dale Earnhardt Inc., Earnhardt Ganassi Racing, Michael Waltrip Racing and Furniture Row Racing, Truex joined forces with Joe Gibbs Racing in 2019. During his six full-time seasons with Joe Gibbs Racing, Truex scored 15 of his 34 Cup Series victories. In addition to his success in the Cup Series, Truex was a two-time champion in the NASCAR Busch Series (now Xfinity Series), where he won 13 races.

On Memorial Day weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway, NASCAR Cup Series teams compete in the sport’s longest race, the Coca-Cola 600. Each of the cars in the race carry a banner across the windshield honoring a U.S. military service person killed in action. When Truex won the 2019 Coca-Cola 600, his car carried the name of U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Nicholas Null, an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician who lost his life in Afghanistan in 2011. Truex met with members of Null’s family before the race and celebrated with them in Victory Lane after his win.
