About the Class

Fuel + Air + Spark = KaBoom

Combustion is an essential part of getting a car to move. Students will explore the chemistry behind racing to identify how chemistry impacts tires, tracks, car design and motion. In this class, students will work in teams to build a chemical reaction car that will be powered by a reaction between acid and base. Students will have the opportunity to test their reactions multiple times to see which mixture works the best and powers the car across the finish line. (Allergy Alert: This activity utilizes lemon and lime juice, vinegar and baking soda.)
