2012 Class Hall of Honor Exhibition Debuts at The NASCAR Hall of Fame

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (May 9, 2012) – The NASCAR Hall of Fame officially unveils the complete 2012 Class of Inductee exhibition in the Hall of Honor on Friday, May 18.

A preview of the 2012 Class exhibit has been on display in the Great Hall since the Induction Ceremony in January featuring Richie Evans, Dale Inman, Darrell Waltrip, Glen Wood and Cale Yarborough’s race cars. The cars will be relocated to the Hall of Honor and, starting May 18, the full exhibition will be revealed with authentic artifacts, new documentary films and an updated, touch-screen directory spotlighting each 2012 Inductee.

Fans can find an enlightening, visual stroll through history with an array of artifacts on display which were personally chosen and provided by each Inductee or their family. Artifacts range from the customary trophies, awards, driver attire, tools, equipment and championship rings to the more personal and unique like Evans’ 1985 silver NASCAR driver’s license, Waltrip’s titanium surgical leg insert and screws and Yarborough’s cowboy hat and boots.

“We plan to deliver a special day of activities for the Inductees and their families, our Members and all our guests in conjunction with the Hall of Honor opening,” said Winston Kelley, executive director for the NASCAR Hall of Fame. “Seeing the faces of the Inductees, and even more so the families, as they experience the magnificent history of their accomplishments for the first time has been among our most special days each year. The day promises to be memorable for all involved – our Inductees, Members and guests.”

The exhibition opening is bolstered by the day’s lineup of festivities.
