Literacy, Informational Text, STEM Integration
Special Considerations: Includes a hands-on extension where students will build a race car inspired by the featured legend.
Program Description: Informational reading is an important form of reading. Through informational texts, students will explore the life, accomplishments and lasting impact of a NASCAR legend. As they practice literacy skills like asking questions, identifying key details and making connections, students will learn about an individual’s story, legacy and impact on NASCAR. Inspired by what they learn, students will design and build a race car that reflects the legacy of the featured racing legend.
