Physics of Speed

Grade Levels: 9-12

Experiential Learning, data collection, model building and testing

Subject: Physics

Program Description: Reaching top speed for a race car is not always under the control of an individual team. NASCAR rules, regulations and parameters affect teams. Students will collaborate to isolate factors related to speed and variables of impact that demonstrate human and mechanical impact on the world of racing. Students will create an isolated test of their analysis by building a car that can race on a banked track. As part of the experiment, students will receive two computer-simulated race experiences as part of their data collection for analysis. The seminar ends with a digital challenge with our iRacing experience.
