Cadette, Senior & Ambassador
Girl Scouts
CSA Programs
Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador Scouts can participate in three advanced workshops led by NASCAR Hall of Fame educators.
Each 90-minute session challenges scouts to apply critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity to explore engineering, innovation, and leadership through the world of NASCAR.
Each program includes a 30-minute pre-workshop activity led by the troop leader to introduce concepts and prepare scouts for the educator-led session. Programs are available virtually or in person.
Program Option 1: NASCAR – A World of STEM Careers
Badge Completed: STEM Careers Exploration
NASCAR offers numerous opportunities to pursue STEM careers, ranging from race teams (engineers, designers, and welders) and track operations (civil engineers, logistics, and security) to media and production (sound technicians, production crews, and digital editors) and NASCAR itself (inspectors, engineers, and research and development technicians).
During this workshop, scouts will explore a variety of STEM careers in NASCAR and discover how science, technology, engineering, and math power the sport. They will also get hands-on experience by designing their own cars and tracks, with a special focus on women leading the way in NASCAR STEM.
Program Option 2: Behind Every Great Win – The Business Behind a Winning Team
Badges Completed: Business Creator · Business Start-Up · Entrepreneur Accelerator
Creating or upgrading a business—whether in NASCAR, on a race team, or in general business—requires teamwork and a strong model for success. The business behind NASCAR provides an excellent opportunity to explore how business plans, budgeting, public speaking, and marketing come together to keep both the sport and the race cars on track.
During this workshop, scouts will examine the business elements that drive NASCAR, teams, and tracks. They will then put those concepts into action by collaboratively developing business ideas, plans, and marketing strategies. To complete the experience, scouts will design a prototype of a product to support their business pitches.
Program Option 3: Engineering Makes NASCAR Roll – Think Like an Engineer
Badge Completed: Think Like an Engineer
Engineering is all around us every day. From drones and cell phones to the mechanics behind cars and toys, engineers are constantly challenged to discover and create solutions that advance our world. NASCAR is built and fueled by engineers who rise to these challenges.
During this session, scouts will take on an engineering challenge using the Engineering Design Process — Imagine, Plan, Create, Test, and Evaluate. Working in teams, they will design and test a prototype, then determine what improvements can be made. Scouts will also hear from engineers in a variety of fields who help NASCAR evolve each day and create a better experience for fans.
